Tennessee troopers stop commercial vehicle hauling skid steer for no load securement or registration, brake violations

Published:

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) put the brakes on a commercial vehicle driver hauling a skid steer with no securement.

On April 15, THP shared details on a recent commercial vehicle traffic stop initiated by Motor Carrier Plus East trooper after several violations were spotted.

After inspecting the truck, the trooper found the following violations:

  • Load Securement Violations – A skid steer was being transported with no load securement whatsoever, creating a significant hazard.
  • Debris on Roadway – Loose rock and dirt were actively spilling onto the roadway, posing a danger to other motorists.
  • Brake Violations
    • Steer axle brakes (left and right) were out of adjustment
    • Two axles had brakes completely inoperable
  • Registration Violations – The truck and trailer were both operating with no valid registration

Tennessee troopers used the incident as a reminder to commercial vehicle drivers that they are responsible for ensuring their vehicle and load are safe and compliant before hitting the road.
