The Baytown Fire Department (BFD) rescued both a truck driver and later the driver’s dog following a serious rollover crash earlier this month.
On January 9, 2026, BFD responded to an 18 wheeler rollover crash with entrapment in Chambers County, Texas.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found the truck driver trapped inside the cab of the crashed semi truck. They initiated rescue operations using heavy equipment.

After extrication, the truck driver was airlifted to a hospital for treatment.
Following the rescue of the driver, firefighters located a dog “in a void space near the sleeper area of the cab.”

The dog was also rescued from the wreckage, and appeared to be in good health.
Firefighters handed the dog over to Chambers County Animal Control for “safekeeping.”
“It is always our pleasure to step in and help when neighboring departments request our assistance and we’re pleased this incident ended with a positive outcome,” BFD said.
