Texas troopers take 85% of inspected trucks out-of-service during commercial vehicle detail on US-287

The Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) shared results from a one-day commercial vehicle inspection operation that took place in Tarrant County.

On April 7, TXDPS – North Texas Region published results from a recent detail that took place on US-287 in Tarrant County, Texas, that resulted in out-of-service orders issued for 85% of inspected vehicles.

See below for key results:

  • 20 Level I commercial vehicle inspections conducted
  • 17 commercial vehicles placed out-of-service
  • 1 commercial vehicle driver placed out-of-service
  • 133 warnings issued
  • 12 citations issued for overweight and safety violations
  • 1 citation for operating a commercial motor vehicle without a valid CDL
  • 1 citation for operating a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified

Additionally, Texas troopers participating in the operation located a semi truck with a loose tandem axle, “a serious safety hazard that can cause trailer instability, which increase the risk of a serious crash.”
