Thousands of Volvo trucks recalled for loss of steering control risk
Volvo Trucks North America recalled nearly 3,800 trucks for a potential defect that could result in the loss of steering control.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents, certain Volvo trucks are being recalled due to concern that the steering knuckles may have been manufactured with insufficiently tightened steering arms. Loose steering arms could result in loss of steering control and a crash.
A total of 3,794 trucks are affected by the recall. The recall documents indicate that only 0.1% of the recalled vehicles have the steering defect.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 7, 2026.
As a remedy, dealers will inspect and tighten the fasteners between the steering arm and steering knuckle for no charge.
