Three-day detail involving ICE targeted commercial vehicles bypassing Wyoming Ports of Entry, sheriff says

The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) recently partnered with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) for an operation targeting commercial vehicles that bypass Ports of Entry.

On February 26, 2026, Laramie County Sheriff Brian Kozak shared a video that offered details on a recent three-day operation dubbed “Truck Around And Find Out,” which was held in partnership with ICE.

The operation was held during early morning hours and focused on commercial trucks that bypass Wyoming Ports of Entry on U.S. 85, I-25, and I-80 in Laramie County.

The operation also targeted motorists driving unsafely around trucks “because we want to take care of our legal truck drivers,” Kozak said.

See key results from the operation below.

“I really want to thank the truck drivers who are doing it right, especially the truck drivers that were honking at our deputies, waving at them, stopping, thanking our deputies, for helping them keep their industry safe and our roadways safe in Laramie County,” Kozak said.

Last October, Kozak and 25 deputies were sworn in by ICE and authorized to enforce immigration law under Title 8, Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act.
