Hundreds of commercial vehicles were inspected in Georgia last week as part of Operation SafeDRIVE.
On April 23, 2026, the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) released results from last week’s Operation SafeDRIVE initiative.
“The focus of Operation SafeDRIVE centered around targeting unsafe drivers and driving behaviors while reinforcing a safe and reliable transportation network,” Georgia DPS said.

Derek Barrs, FMCSA Administrator, was on scene to oversee the operation, taking in an “aerial overview of enforcement operations,” visiting an inspection station in Monroe County and “work[ing] alongside CVE officers during traffic stops, inspections.”

“The visit highlighted the strong partnership between Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, DPS, and supporting state partners to keep commercial traffic moving safely while protecting the motoring public. We appreciate the professional drivers and carriers who prioritize safety each day, as your commitment protects the motoring public and strengthens Georgia’s economy,” Georgia DPS said.
SafeDRIVE is a multi-state high-visibility traffic enforcement initiative intended to reduce crashes involving large commercial trucks.
