Tow truck driver faces multiple tickets for I-81 bridge strike

New York State Police (NYSP) responded to a bridge strike involving a tow truck that caused damage to a vehicle and the bridge structure.

At 11:36 a.m. on July 9, 2026, troopers responded to southbound I-81 in Cicero, New York, for a reported property damage crash.

Following an investigation, NYSP determined that Adam P. Mullings, 34, of Syracuse, was operating a 2002 yellow International flatbed tow truck loaded with a 2019 Ford F550 in the right lane of southbound I-81.

As the tow truck passed under the Taft Road bridge, the vehicle being transported struck the underside of the structure, resulting in damage to the bridge and the Ford F550.
