Tractor trailer hauling sea lions to State Fair crashed off I-70 in Missouri
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) responded to a crash involving a semi truck hauling a load of live sea lions on Thursday.
MSHP responded to a reported crash shortly after 3:00 p.m. on August 13 on westbound I-70 at mile marker 133 in Boone County.
Troopers said that a 2015 Peterbilt driven by a 59-year-old Ohio resident hauling a load of three sea lions “left the left side of the roadway for an undetermined reason and struck a concrete barrier.”
MSHP said that four people were on the truck when the crash occurred. One of the occupants was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. The truck driver was not hurt.
The sea lions did not have any apparent injuries but were taken to the MU Veterinary Health Center to be checked.
Troopers said that the sea lions have resumed their journey to Sedalia to appear at the Missouri State Fair.
