Troopers from Utah and Wyoming recently partnered for a commercial vehicle inspection and enforcement detail on I-80 targeting trucks that avoid Ports of Entry.

The inspection detail took place on April 29, 2026, on I-80 at the Utah/Wyoming border.

According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), the four-hour operation targeted commercial vehicle safety violations as well as “trucks that were skipping the Evanston and Echo Ports of Entry.”

Additionally 15 trucks were placed out-of-service, and 10 drivers were placed out-of-service.

WHP said that one inspector “found a cracked frame on a trailer loaded with construction supplies.”

“We have great appreciation for the assistance given by our allied agencies in keeping Interstate 80 safe for all travelers,” Wyoming troopers said.
