Troopers remove 119 commercial trucks and drivers from the road during I-40 brake blitz in Arizona

Officials released results from a four-day commercial vehicle enforcement campaign conducted in support of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Brake Safety Week.

From August 24 through 27, 2026, Arizona troopers partnered with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for a commercial vehicle enforcement detail on I-40 in the Flagstaff area in support of Brake Safety Week.

See below for result from the four-day operation:

• 309 commercial vehicle inspections conducted
• 516 commercial vehicles weighed
• 1042 total violations uncovered
• 59 drivers placed out-of-service
• 60 vehicles placed out-of-service
• Two drivers arrested on DUI charges
• Three drivers cited for drug-related violations and placed out-of-service

“Brake Safety Week didn’t slow us down, but it definitely stopped a few trucks,” the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) said.

Brake Safety Week took place throughout North America from August 23 through 29, 2026.
