Truck driver charged after getting stuck on guardrail while attempting hairpin turn

A truck driver was charged after getting stuck on a no-trucks route in Caledon, Ontario, according to Canadian police.

The incident took place on July 24, 2026, when a 65-year-old truck driver attempted to take Forks of the Credit Road, a scenic and curvy driving route popular with motorcyclists and fall foliage watchers.

Commercial trucks are not permitted on Forks of the Credit Road.

The eastbound truck driver became caught up on a guardrail when he attempted to take the hairpin turn on the twisting route.

The roadway was closed for about two hours as crews worked to recover the stuck truck.

The truck driver was charged with disobeying a sign and interfering with traffic, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

‘Caledon OPP would like to remind commercial motor vehicle drivers that there are many route restrictions in Caledon that exist to keep them, their trucks and the roads safe. If the GPS says yes, but the sign says no – TRUST THE SIGN,” police said.
