The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol asked truckers to “double check when you’re hauling” following a load shift crash in Eloy that resulted in citations for the driver.
The single vehicle crash occurred around 1 p.m. on January 13, 2026, on southbound AZ-87 at mile marker 116 in Eloy, Arizona.
“The commercial vehicle was traveling approximately 55 m.p.h. in a 45 m.p.h. zone, as shown in the driver’s cam video, and attempted to turn west onto Milligan Road. The load of metal beams shifted and travelled into the cab, crushing it,” AZDPS said.

The truck driver was airlifted from the scene for treatment of minor injuries.
Officials say the truck driver was cited for “Speed not Reasonable and Prudent – Collision”, and “a Federal Motor Carrier Code for Improperly Secured Load, as the load shifted laterally.”
“If you have a haul, prevent its fall! Always double-check that any materials being hauled are properly secured, regardless of the vehicle’s size. Keeping materials in place on the road helps keep everyone safe and traffic moving,” AZDPS said.
The Eloy Police Department also responded to the crash.
