Truck driver hauling oversized load arrested for DUI after hitting multiple barricades on I-40

Arizona state troopers put the brakes on an intoxicated oversized load hauler on a busy interstate in Flagstaff on Thursday.

On August 13, 2026, Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report that a semi truck hauling an oversized load struck multiple traffic barriers on I-40.

Troopers tracked down the vehicle.

The truck driver “showed clear signs of impairment,” and a subsequent breath test showed a 0.124 BAC, officials said.

Additionally, open alcohol containers were located in the cab.

The truck driver was arrested for DUI.

Additionally, a commercial vehicle inspection resulted in the driver being placed out-of-service for 24 hours.
