A truck driver was beaten and robbed at gunpoint at a Pilot truck stop just before sunset in southern California earlier this week.
The crime occurred on January 6th at 4:50 p.m. at the Pilot Travel Center at Highway 395 and Joshua Street in Hesperia, California.
According to Victorville Daily Press, the truck driver was sitting in his rig just before sunset when he was approached by a man who asked him to get out of his truck to come look at something.
“The victim exited the vehicle and walked a short way with the suspect,” said San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Gloria Orejel. “While walking between two semi-trucks, the suspect pulled out a gun, walked with the victim to the ATM to withdraw money and robbed the victim of his cash, and threatened him.”
The trucker then returned to his rig to find four additional men waiting there for him. The trucker was then beaten by the group of men. Police were called to the scene, where the trucker declined medical treatment.
Descriptions of the suspects were not available as of Thursday afternoon, January 8th.
