Trucker & girlfriend facing domestic violence charges for incident involving phone call to wife, disconnected airbrakes

A dysfunctional trucking couple is facing domestic violence charges after an incident involving a phone call to the driver’s wife and disconnected air brakes. 

The incident occurred in Washington Township, Ohio at around 6 p.m. in the area of U.S. 33 and Township Road 94. 

According to PeakofOhio News, the woman was seen banging on the outside of the semi truck, and had reportedly disconnected the air brakes from the rig as it was driving down the road. 

When questioned by officers, 38-year-old truck driver Brandon Edwards told police that his girlfriend, 30-year-old Rayquell Weatherspoon had leapt from the semi truck with his phone and began disconnecting the tractor and trailer during an argument. Edwards says the argument began when he made a phone call to his wife, which angered Weatherspoon, his girlfriend. 

Edwards also told police that Weatherspoon had punched him in the mouth after officers asked him about a bloody lip. Weatherspoon also had large scrapes on her body, and gravel residue on her clothing. She later told officers the Edwards had thrown her from the truck as it was moving. 

Both wanted to press charges against the other, and so both were arrested on charges of domestic violence. Both were transported to the Logan County Jail, and the semi truck was towed from the scene.
