Trucker planning to sue for crash with police drone that sent him to hospital 

A truck driver has plans to sue a Texas town over a crash with a police drone that sent him to the hospital. 

The crash happened back on the afternoon of June 2nd, on Interstate 35 at West Nugent Avenue in Temple, Texas. Since then, the city has yet to release the documents related to the crash, despite multiple records requests, reported the Killeen Daily Herald.

The truck driver has been identified as Canadian Gurdeep Gill, who says that a police drone crashed into his semi truck, causing a collision that required him to be hospitalized. Gill now plans to sue over the incident, but details on the potential suit have not been released. 

“He is understandably uncomfortable speaking about the incident and continues to experience pain from his injuries. We appreciate your understanding and ask that you respect his need to focus on his recovery at this time,” paralegal Tasha L. Williams with the Cochran law firm wrote in an email. The firm has already filed a governmental notice of liability claim against the city of Temple on behalf of Gill. 

According to records, a DJI Matrice 30T drone was put out of service around the same time as the crash. That specific type of drone is often used in tandem with Flock cameras and other automated safety tools. 

The attorney general will now determine whether the city must release the requested records related to the collision.
