Tunnel-building company owned by Musk hasn’t paid trucking company for construction work last year

A tunnel-building company owned by Elon Musk has still not paid a trucking company involved in construction in Nashville back in late 2025.

The issue was addressed at a special subcommittee meeting for District 17 in Nashville, Tennessee on February 19th.

According to Fox17, Shane Trucking and Excavating worked on tunnel-building at a Music City Loop site in 2025 until November, when the company chose to walk away from the project over poor communication and late payments.

“I think just because of poor communication and maybe a lack of leadership on The Boring Company’s part, Shane Trucking and Excavating is just gonna have to step away for right now,” William Shane said back in November.

At the February 19th special subcommittee meeting, Councilmember Terry Vo questioned The Boring Company, owned by Elon Musk, about the payment issue, reported The Tennesseean.

“We’re in the process of resolving what was a bit of an accounting issue where errors were made in transition with Shane Trucking,” said Boring Co. Vice President David Buss.

At one point, the media reported that Shane Trucking left the job site over safety concerns, but Buss claims that both companies are in agreement that those reports were inaccurate.

“They [Shane Trucking] acknowledge that reported safety concerns in the media were not accurate, that we are having productive dialogue and that we look forward to continuing (the) productive relationship.”

No further information on upcoming payments has been released.
