Unsecured load and 18 other violations uncovered by Tennessee trooper’s inspection

A Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper found nearly twenty violations during a recent inspection on a vehicle hauling heavy equipment.

On January 12, 2026, THP said that a trooper with the Motor Carrier Plus Unit conducted an inspection that resulted in the discovery of 19 total violations.

  • Stop and turn lamps inoperative
  • 5 of 8 brakes inoperative on a combination unit
  • Unsecured load
  • Emergency air brake hose with visible dry rot
  • No required periodic inspections
  • No proof of insurance

“These violations present significant safety risks to both the motoring public and the driver. Proactive inspections like this help identify unsafe vehicles and ensure compliance before a serious crash occurs,” THP said.
