U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) shared video of semi trucks being scanned by Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) technology at Levi Stadium ahead of the Super Bowl.
On February 5, CBP shared video of the NII technology being used to screen trucks entering Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
“We’re out here using our NII equipment to x-ray all the cargo and trucks and any commodity that’s coming in to support the Super Bowl,” a CBP officer explained.
CBP uses the NII system to detect contraband like narcotics and weapons as well as materials that pose potential nuclear and radiological threats. Officials say that the NII technologies use large-scale X-ray and Gamma ray imaging systems to examine cargo conveyances for the presence of contraband without physically opening or unloading them.
NII systems are also deployed by CBP at land, sea, and air ports of entry.
