Werner bring plan to add 135 truck and trailer spots to PA planning commission

Werner Enterprises has submitted plans to add 135 truck and trailer spots to the planning commission in Palmer Township.

The terminal at 2215 Newlins Mill Road in Palmer Township, Pennsylvania opened in 2021 with a lot of opposition from local citizens. Now, Werner Enterprises has submitted plans to add more truck and trailer parking spots to the location. It currently has 200 trailer parking stalls and 90 tractor parking stalls

According to Lehigh Valley Live, the company initially introduced a plan to add 107 trailer spots and 38 tractor spots, but the plan was struck down by the planning commission over stormwater, traffic, landscaping, and lighting concerns. The company has since countered with a new plan for 100 trailer spots and 35 tractor spots, this time with accommodations for sidewalks, a bike path, and a wider road.

“We do anticipate there to be additional comments on the plan before we will be recommending approval,” said township Planning Director Craig Beavers.

The revised plan would also consolidate two land parcels into one parcel of 49 acres. The parking area entrance would be on the Newlins Mill Road side.
