The Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) is reminding truckers that stopping at the weigh station is not optional after a recent encounter with a scale house skipper in Cheyenne.
On February 24, WHP took to social media to remind the trucking community about the consequences of bypassing a weigh station illegally, even if you’re hauling an empty flatbed trailer.
“This semi with “Blue The Scales” put its money where its mouth was and blew by the scales in Cheyenne. He also blew by the watching troopers. While we appreciate the humor, you’re still getting a ticket,” WHP said. “There is a common belief in some trucking circles that you can illegally bypass a weigh station and no one will chase after you. Not the case here in the Cowboy State!”
Along with the reminder about the consequences of skipping a weigh station, WHP took a moment to share a message of appreciation for the trucking community:
“On a side note, the driver of this semi was understanding and great to work with. We at the WHP have a top priority of keeping our roads safe – we also love our truckers and appreciate all the long hours and hard work you put in to keep America running.”
