TXDOT crafts traffic barrel ‘safety creatures’ to remind drivers to pay attention

Workers with the Texas Department of Transportation (TSDOT) created a series of sculptures from orange barrels that were struck by drivers as a reminder about the dangers of distracted driving.

As part of National Work Zone Awareness Week running through April 15, maintenance workers in TxDOT’s El Paso District crafted several larger-than-life creature sculptures from orange traffic barrels that were hit by cars or trucks.

The orange barrel creations are on display at the TXDOT Travel Information Center in Anthony, Texas.

Among the creatures created by TXDOT workers are a large snake and a T-Rex.
