One EB I-10 lane reopened after flash flooding washout

Published:

One eastbound lane of Interstate 10 near the California/Arizona border has been reopened after a portion of the road was washed away by flash flooding.

Floodwater closed both the eastbound and westbound sides of I-10 at mile marker 121 on Wednesday night, but the westbound side was reopened by 11:30 p.m. Seven overturned semi trucks were reported on Wednesday night as a result of the flash flooding, with one injury. The condition of the injured person is not clear, reported The LA times.

One eastbound lane is now open as of Thursday morning, August 25th. Commuters are still warned to expect delays.

Caltrans has advised drivers traveling to Blythe or Arizona to use Highway 86 or Highway 111 down to Highway 8 from the 10 or to use Highway 15 to Highway 40 into Needles.
