Published:

Police have arrested and charged a New Hampshire man in connection with a shooting that killed a semi truck driver over the weekend.

The incident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The Manchester Police Department responded to the intersection of South Willow and Kaye streets near the Mall of New Hampshire for reports that a person had been shot.

Officers found 45 year old truck driver Dzemal Cardakovic unresponsive at the scene with an apparent gunshot wound. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A local news outlet reports that a witness saw an SUV stopping and starting in traffic in front of Cardakovic’s semi truck. The witnesses said that Cardakovic exited his truck to speak to the SUV driver and was shot prior to the SUV driver fleeing the scene.

At 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, two people were taken into police custody by a SWAT team following a vehicle stop.

Manchester Police later announced that Tyrese Harris, 22, had been arrested and charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder for “(1) knowingly causing the death of Dzemal Cardakovic, age 45, by shooting him with a firearm; and alternatively, for (2) recklessly causing the death of Cardakovic under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, to wit, Harris shot Cardakovic with a firearm.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader, Cardakovic’s son and nephew were inside the truck when the shooting took place.
