Trucker walking to semi killed during multi-vehicle collision on NYS Thruway

New York State Police (NYSP) are investigating a deadly crash that occurred in Monroe County on Monday evening.

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. on April 17 on I-90 in the town of Chili, New York.

According to NYSP, the incident began when 22 year old New York resident Emon Siddiki was operating a Toyota Rav 4 that rear-ended a semi truck driven by Ohio resident Robert J. Tincani, 75, while traveling west on I-90.

After the crash, the Toyota become disabled in the right lane of I-90. Siddiki walked over to the north shoulder while Tincani also pulled off onto the shoulder to exchange information.

After calling 911 and waiting for NYSP to arrive, Tincani walked back to his truck.

As he did, a semi truck operated by New York resident Ivan Solonyshyn, 40, struck the disabled Rav 4.

This crash caused Solonyshyn’s truck to overturn and strike Tincani as he was still on foot walking towards his truck.

Tincani died at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
