POLICE: Ambulance had red light in collision with semi that ejected EMT

An EMT sustained life-threatening injuries on Monday after a crash with a semi truck at an intersection in Kentucky. 

The accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. in Louisville on Monday, June 19th in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street. 

According to WHAS 11 News, An ambulance was traveling east on East chestnut street while transporting a patient when it traveled through a red light. The ambulance was then struck by a semi truck exiting I-65 onto Brook Street. The force of the impact ejected a paramedic treating a patient in the back of the ambulance. 

Two paramedics were transported to a hospital. One of them had injuries described as life-threatening. The ambulance had lights and sirens on at the time of the collision. 

The accident is still under investigation. No other information has been released.
