Colorado troopers share video of stolen cop cruiser colliding with parked semi

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) released body cam and dash cam video that features a suspect in a stolen police cruiser fatally colliding with a semi truck.

The incident began at 11 a.m. on June 20 when CSP was called in to assist the Otero County Sheriff’s Office with a police pursuit happening on Highway 50.

The suspect, Anthony Alphonso Sanchez III, 31, allegedly intentionally caused several crashes before troopers were able to use a PIT maneuver to take him off the road.

Sanchez was handcuffed in the backseat of a CSP cruiser but managed crawl into the front seat to steal the car anyway, leading police on another pursuit along Highway 50.

Stop sticks were deployed multiple times to try to end the pursuit.

Finally, Sanchez struck one set of stop sticks, causing him to lose control and collide with a a semi truck parked on the side of the highway. The cruiser caught fire following the crash.

Sanchez initially survived the crash but later died in the hospital.

The truck driver said that he was not injured, only shaken.
