Trucker questions why some people have licenses after wreck with sedan pinned two other cars

Two vehicles were pinned beneath a semi truck in Pennsylvania on Monday afternoon after a sedan attempted to cut across traffic.

The accident happened on August 14th at around 12:55 p.m. on the corner of St. James Avenue and Route 22, near Phillipsburg Easton Honda, in Pohatcong, Pennsylvania.

According to Lehigh Valley Live, a motorist in a sedan was in a straight-only westbound lane on Route 22 when they attempted to cut across two lanes of traffic to turn onto St. James Avenue. During the maneuver, the car cut in front of an oncoming tractor trailer, forcing the truck driver to make a sharp turn onto St. James Avenue to avoid a collision with the car. The sudden turn caused the truck to overturn, pinning two other cars stopped in a southbound lane on St. James Avenue.

The truck driver was able to crawl out of his overturned truck and was not hurt. Three people in the crushed cars were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

“I’m just happy he’s safe,” the truck driver’s wife said at the scene of the accident.

A police officer who responded to the scene said that the truck driver will likely not be found at fault.

“Everyone walked away from the accident…. Some people shouldn’t have licenses,” the unnamed truck driver said of the accident.
