A historic theater in Missouri was damaged by a semi truck following an incorrect GPS route early on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred on September 12th in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

According to Daily American Republic, the Rodgers Theatre was weeks away from the completion of a total exterior renovation when a semi truck took a right onto South Broadway and caught the side of the marquee. The marquee sustained substantial damage in the incident, and the trailer was left with a streak of red paint.

The truck driver had reportedly followed incorrect directions from a GPS on his way to the Poplar Bluff Post Office.

City and theater board officials have attempted to address issues like this in the past by extending the sidewalk outside of the building

The exterior renovation of the theater was weeks away from completion at the time of the wreck.
