Motorist rescues box truck driver from nearby river after the truck veered into the icy waters in Minnesota on Monday afternoon.
The accident happened on the afternoon of January 15th in Rogers, Minnesota on Highway 101.
According to Kare 11 News, the box truck was heading north on Highway 101 when it began sliding. The box truck struck the right guardrail, a sign, and then slid into the left guardrail before careening down an embankment and crashing into the river.
Motorist Christopher Kirk was a few vehicles behind the box truck when the accident happened and watched the incident unfold. He says he called 911 before jumping out of his car and sliding down the embankment to check on the box truck driver.
Kirk then plunged into the frigid water and hopped on top of the truck’s trailer. From there, he was able to open the truck door and pull the driver out of the cab.
The box truck driver sustained minor injuries in the incident. No other injuries were reported.
It is unclear what led to the wreck. No further information has been released.
