A man previously convicted for robbing a bank while wearing an Iron Man mask is back in jail this week after setting fire to his own semi truck at a Florida storage lot.
36-year-old Lakhram Mahadeo has been charged with second-degree arson and was being held Tuesday, June 11th on $25,000 bond. He was arrested on Monday, June 10th at his dentist’s office in Flagler County, Florida. Mahadeo was released from prison in May 2021 for the armed robbery of a Wells Fargo while wearing an Iron Man mask.
According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, Firefighters were called to a commercial vehicle storage lot at 1780 N. State Street in Bunnell, Florida on May 17th, 2023 to put out a semi truck on fire. At the same time, police were called to 118 Grand Reserve where Mahadeo was found suffering from third degree burns. Mahadeo was flown to a hospital for treatment of his burns, and was later determined to be the owner of the burning truck.
Upon investigation of the fire, officials noticed that the 2012 Freightliner’s windshield had been blown out, and pieces of the burning truck had struck another rig parked nearby. A five-gallon water jug containing gasoline and accelerant was also found at the site. Mahadeo’s debit card showed a transaction for $36 at a gas station 1.5 miles from his home, and his storage lot code had last been used on May 16th. Mahadeo’s clothing worn on the day of the incident also tested positive for gasoline.
When asked, Mahadeo told investigators that he had no memory of that day, but said he may have been conducting some maintenance on the semi truck. No further information on the incident has been released.
