A truck driver was hospitalized following a hazmat incident on an Idaho interstate.
At 8:30 p.m. on July 22, the Boise Fire Department (BFD) responded to a tractor trailer leaking a liquid chemical on I-84 eastbound at mile marker 62 in Boise, Idaho.
“The chemical spill was caused by ten 300-gallon totes that had slid forward in the trailer, damaging the front right tote. The floor decking of the trailer was then damaged from the chemical,” firefighters said.
Officials say that approximately 200 gallons of sodium hydroxide spilled out on the roadway and in the ditch.
BFD “decontaminated the driver on scene” while Hazmat teams worked to clean up the spilled chemical.
The truck driver was later transported to a hospital. No one else was injured.
