Three dead in dump truck vs. senior facility bus head-on collision, Maryland troopers say

Maryland State Police (MSP) are investigating a triple fatality head-on crash that occurred in Charles County on Friday morning.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. on September 13, 2024 in the area of Port Tobacco Road and Bowie Road.

A senior-living assisted facility transportation bus was involved, MSP says.

Troopers say that “the bus was traveling westbound on Port Tobacco Road, when for unknown reasons, lost control and struck the dump truck, traveling eastbound, head-on.”

Three bus occupants, including the driver, died in the crash.

The dump truck driver was not hurt.

Police do not believe that impairment was a factor. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
