The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) out of Texas is using marked semi trucks as part of disaster relief efforts and in service of local communities.
Most recently, the HCSO used their police-marked semi truck in order to deliver supplies to law enforcement families in Buncombe County, North Carolina, who were impacted by Hurricane Helene. HCSO helped deliver a truckload of donated food, water, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene products to help families recover from the disaster.
But this isn’t the only time that HCSO has used their marked trucks to help those in need — a department spokesperson told CDLLife that the trucks are also used every Christmas to deliver toys to kids at the children at the Child Assessment Center.
HCSO says that they own and operate two semis to move relief supplies in response to natural disasters in the Gulf Coast area.
“Our Deputies that are assigned to the unit have years of experience in driving and maintaining the trucks and trailers,” HCSO said.
