VIDEO: USDOT boss talks to truckers to get the real deal on problems in the transportation industry

Transportation Secretary Sean M. Duffy recently took time out to chat with truckers to learn more about the challenges they face in their driving day.

On July 25, 2025, Duffy shared video from a visit to a trucking company facility in Green Bay during which he talked to a group of truck drivers to get their perspective on changes that they’d like to see within the trucking industry.

“Truckers deliver for the American people every day. That’s why the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) is working with them on the issues that matter like training and parking. The best ideas don’t come from Washington, they come from the men and women who do the work and make this country great!” Duffy said.

In the video, Duffy asks the drivers “What can we do at DOT to make your jobs better and easier as you serve the American people?”

The truckers tell Duffy that they’d like to see reforms in truck driver training standards to make sure that only qualified drivers get behind the wheel. The drivers also mention needing more safe truck parking availability.

“I’ve heard you and we’re going to work on that,” Duffy says.

Since taking the reins at USDOT earlier this year, Duffy has introduced a number of initiatives designed to improve the lives of American truckers. These include revamping the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website to make it easier to use, funding new truck parking facilities, and cutting regulations, including the controversial speed limiter mandate proposal.
