Texas sheriff’s office finds 28 violations during dump truck inspection

A dump truck driver was recently cited after the Waller County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) stopped the vehicle for an inspection and uncovered more than two dozen violations.

On October 16, 2025, a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) officer with WCSO stopped a loaded dump truck in the Hempstead, Texas, area for an inspection.

“The truck had a total of 28 violations with several of those placing the vehicle Out-of-Service (OOS). The violations included 3 of the 6 brakes being out of compliance, a cracked leaf spring that was being held by a chain, and the vehicle was 5,100 pounds overweight,” WCSO said.

The dump truck driver was cited, and the vehicle was towed.

“Our CVE Unit is working daily on finding these unsafe heavy vehicles and placing them out of service, issuing citations to the drivers, and making the roadways of Waller County safer,” police said.
