Troopers with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) uncovered hundreds of pounds of drugs during a commercial vehicle safety inspection on I-17.
On October 24, 2025, AZDPS Canine District troopers conducted an inspection on a semi truck along I-17.

During the inspection, troopers discovered “approximately 233 pounds of cocaine concealed in an aftermarket compartment inside the trailer.”
Officials say that the cocaine, worth approximately $3 million, was being smuggled from California to New Jersey.

The truck driver is facing charges including possession and transportation of a narcotic drug for sale.
“This seizure reflects the vigilance and determination of our troopers in disrupting drug trafficking operations and protecting our communities from the spread of dangerous drugs,” said AZDPS.
