Published:

100-Year-Old Driver Hits 11A 100-year-old California man, who will be turning 101 next month, was leaving a grocery store Wednesday afternoon when his car jumped a curb and hit 9 school children and 2 adults.  None of those hit by Preston Carter’s Cadillac suffered life-threatening injuries.

The school children had just gotten released from school for the day from the Main Street School in Los Angeles and were waiting to be picked up.

Carter told authorities he was sorry and that he believed his car’s brakes had failed.

“I’m sorry,” Preston Carter told KTLA. “I lost control of the car. The brakes failed, I think.”

Authorities have taken Carter’s car to have its brakes inspected.  Police say they are investigating the accident but have not yet issued any charges against Carter.

Carter’s daughter told authorities her father will no longer be driving.

Drivers, do you feel there should be a cut-off age for drivers?
