Truck Driver Loses His Life While Helping An Accident Victim

Truck Driver HeroGoogle the words “truck driver,” then select the news option.  What comes up?  Mostly negative or sensationalized stories.  The good deeds of drivers aren’t often featured. By and large, drivers are a great group of caring, compassionate people who will do anything to help others… even risk or sacrifice their own lives.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., last night, 62-year-old truck driver Owen Flynn and another driver were parked on the side of Interstate 287 south near Edison, New Jersey.

Thirty-seven-year-old Heather Manco lost control of her Acrua and smashed into one truck, which caused Manco’s Acura to spin and hit Flynn’s trailer.  The car then flipped over onto its side.

Flynn sprang into action.  He jumped out of his truck and began running down the highway to Manco’s car.

Sadly, another truck was approaching and hit Manco’s car and Flynn.

Both Flynn and Manco were pronounced dead at the scene.

Flynn’s sister Laurie Flynn said her brother would have done anything to help another.  “He was fun-loving, very adventurous, a daredevil,” she told NewJersey.com. “He loved life.”

Truck drivers often spring into action to help a person in need.  Truck drivers are still the heroes of the road.
