Corey Daniels plead guilty on January 31, 2014 in the U.S. District Court of Macon, Georgia to conspiracy to violate an Imminent Hazard Out-of-Service Order which was issued by the FMCSA.
Daniels and several others were accused of participating in this scheme on May 14,2013.
Devaska Lewis had been doing business as Lewis Trucking Company in October of 2008 – and was been placed under a cease all operations order by the FMCSA. This order was in place after a number of violations which were discovered during a compliance review which was conducted after an Alabama accident that killed seven people.
Lewis using Daniel’s identity made an attempt to get around the cease all operations order by forming Eagle Transport and Eagle Trans. In doing so, the pair failed to inform the FMCSA of their involvement as owners of those companies.
An investigation conducted by the FMCSA, Georgia Department of Public Safety, and the Georgia DOT is currently underway.
