According to KOAA News 5 in Denver, multiple pileups claimed the life of one and injured 20 others.
The pileup occurred this morning on Interstate 25 in Denver.
The Saturday morning crash shut down the interstate. The Colorado Department of Transportation reports that the crash involving more than 20 vehicles occurred near Downing Street. A separate crash, involving 25-plus vehicles occurred at I-25 and University.
“Denver police said 104 vehicles were involved in a string of accidents between Logan Street and University Boulevard that occurred as a heavy band of snow moved through town about 11 a.m.,” the Denver Post reported.
Freezing fog is said to have coated the roads in a thin layer of ice.
