Truck Driver Rescues Injured Dog At Oklahoma Truck Stop

A severely injured dog was left at a Burns Flat, Oklahoma truck stop last week.

The truck driver who found her (initially thinking she was dead) named her “Momma” after he noticed her shallow breath and contacted independent rescuer, Terry Lynn Bloomer.

Bloomer said that the dog had been unable to move and was enduring the scorching heat on the pavement. After awhile, ‘Momma’ responded to Bloomer and the driver by wagging her tail.

She was loaded up and transported to a veterinarian where she was found to be covered in bite marks around her throat, face, legs, and torso. The vet concluded that ‘Momma’ had also recently delivered puppies.

‘Momma’ is now recovering at the Elk Creek Clinic. She has begun to stand and even walk on her wobbly legs.

Anyone with information about the abandoned animal is being asked to call the Washita County Sheriff’s Office (580.832.2370).
