Six people were injured early this morning on the Stevenson Expressway in Illinois after a truck driver fell asleep in a construction zone and plowed into 13 vehicles.
The 13 vehicles were all stopped in a construction area as a State Trooper was performing lane closures. The driver, who later admitted to falling asleep, did not stop, severely damaging many of the vehicles.
None of the injuries are thought to be life threatening.
The truck was registered to Purdy Brothers Trucking of Loudon, Tennessee, who said that they are investigating the crash. Police questioned the driver, but had no charges have been filed yet.
Inbound lanes of I-55 were closed for about 2 hours while police investigated and crews cleaned up the crash.
