Maryland Ups Enforcement On Truckers With Suspended Licenses

Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division upped truck enforcement last week, putting 10 truck drivers out of service for having a suspended CDL or no CDL at all.

According to a press release from Maryland State Police, between August 17 and August 19 the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division charged 7 truck driver of driving with a suspended license, 2 drivers of driving with no CDL at all, and one truck driver for being “unfit” to drive. One of these truckers was also accused of marijuana possession after he attempted to throw a baggie out the window as he was being stopped.

Maryland CVED has conducted 68,978 commercial vehicle inspections this year as of August 20. The press release proudly proclaims that the Maryland conducts the most commercial vehicle safety inspections per lane-mile of any state in the nation.
