Dramatic video of a truck crash on the Tappan Zee Bridge has taken the internet by storm — and the driver behind the wheel of that truck is now in hot water.
The crash happened around 9 a.m. on Friday when a truck hauling scrap metal belonging to Kelman Transport LLC of Cohoes, New York, overturned due to mechanical failure — likely the truck’s suspension breaking. A motorist who captured the incident on dash cam came close to being crushed by the overturning truck.
No one was hurt, but scrap metal hit four cars and the force of the crash pushed a concrete barrier into another car.
Police have not released the name of the 61 year old truck driver involved in the crash, but they did reveal that he was cited for driving with a suspended license.
The crash caused a six mile back up on of westbound traffic on I-287 as lanes were closed for four hours.
The video of the crash has been viewed almost 900,000 as of today.
