Utah transportation officials have closed I-15 in both directions in Middle near 6400 South following a multi-vehicle crash this morning involving a tanker hauling combustible ammonium nitrate gel.
The crash happened in the northbound lanes around 9:15 a.m. The Utah Highway Patrol said that the crash involved two trucks and two passenger vehicles. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The tanker hauling the ammonium nitrate overturned but did not leak. Because ammonium nitrate is combustible, a 150 foot evacuation radius has been established and HazMat crews are on scene.
No injuries were reported.
There is no clear ETA for the reopening of I-15 at this time.
