Police Arrest Man Suspected Of Killing Truck Driver For Less Than $30

Police have arrested the suspect who is accused of shooting and killing a 63 year old truck driver in Pennsylvania in June of 2015.

Early Morning Botched Robbery Ends In Death Of Truck Driver

The shooting happened as grandfather and delivery truck driver Thomas Childs was preparing to start his driving day at Ridgeway Industries in Delaware County .

Police found Childs’ body near his cab next to his truck, dead from a gunshot wound.

Police say that the shooter stole $20 – $30 from Childs along with his company-issued phone. He later abandoned these items along with the gun in a cemetery.

Man Taken Into Custody On Murder Charges

On Friday, the 38 year old suspect, Rodney Shelton II, was found in the home of a woman in Dekalb County, Georgia. Shelton initially tried to flee out the back door, but eventually surrendered to police.

He was charged with first-, second- and third-degree murder. He is also facing robbery and firearms charges.

The woman Shelton was staying with was the mother of his child. She told police that Shelton tearfully admitted that he had shot a man during a robbery when the man started to resist. He also reportedly mentioned being high at the time of the shooting.

Childs’ widow called the news “the best Christmas present ever.”
