A man fleeing from police held on to the hood of a semi truck for almost seven miles before taking off on foot and being fatally struck by another semi truck on I-70 in Missouri.
Missouri State Troopers received calls around 5:30 yesterday about a young man who was spotted running in traffic on I-70 near Warrington. Troopers then received tips that the man had somehow climbed onto the hood of a semi truck, which continued down the interstate for miles before police were able to locate and stop the truck.
The suspect, who would later be identified as 20 year old Darryl Boyle, then fled on foot into the woods near the junction of Route B and I-70.
Boyle later ran back on to I-70, where he was hit by a different semi. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police initially believed that Boyle was trying to carjack the semi, but now they say that they are unsure what Boyle’s motives were.
It is unclear why Boyle was fleeing from police in the first place.
Troopers from the commercial vehicle enforcement division were on the scene.
Westbound I-70 was closed for around four hours because of the bizarre incident.
The incident is still under investigation.
