Trucker Believed To Have Been Run Over By Own Semi Was Actually Shot, Say Police

Colorado police say that they are now investigating what was thought to be the accidental death of a trucker as a homicide.

Cause of Trucker’s Death Misreported by Investigators

According to a report released today by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, new information has surfaced in the death of a Wyoming truck driver last month.

According to the release, on May 18 at 3:20 p.m. police responded to a call for a possible traffic fatality at the intersection of Weld County Road 136 and Weld County Road 77. When they arrived on the scene, they found 49 year old truck driver Nathan Combs dead at the scene. The initial investigation indicated that Combs had been performing some sort of maintenance task on his truck when the vehicle shifted and ran over him.

However, today the Weld County Sheriff’s Office announced that Combs actually died as a result of a gunshot wound. They do not believe that the wound was self-inflicted and they are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Police Offer Reward for Information on Trucker’s Death

As the incident occurred in a rural area, information is limited. Police are asking anyone who has information about Combs’s death to contact them 970-356-4015. Alternately, anyone who submits a tip to Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) could be eligible for a $2000 cash reward if the information leads to the arrest and charging of a suspect.
