Truck driver arrested for smashing motorist’s head with a hammer

Published:

A truck driver has been arrested for allegedly hitting a motorist in the head with a hammer in a fit of road rage after a collision.

The attacker was arrested at 6:40 A.M. on June 5, 2018 on SR 20, west of Parks Bar Bridge in Yuba City, California.

According to Fox40, two Johal and Sons trucks were traveling eastbound when Ramon Lopez attempted to pass them in a Honda Accord as the two lanes of SR 20 merged into one.

Lopez could not complete the pass and ended up side swiping the front of the first semi, driven by Jose Pedilla-Maciel. Although Jose did not notice the collision, the driver of the second truck, 64-year-old Robert Morgan, reportedly saw the crash.

Lopez flagged down the trucks and got them to pull over. Once they all came to a halt, Morgan exited his vehicle and approached Lopez. The two were involved in a short confrontation that involved yelling and pushing.

Morgan returned to his truck, grabbed a hammer, and bashed Lopez in the head with it.

Lopez was taken to Rideout Hospital with serious injuries.

Morgan was arrested by Officer Billy Saukkola and charged for 245 PC, Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
